چکیده

Materials and methods 40 patients (36 women, 4 men) were included (mean age 27 years); average time since surgery was 135 months. The mean residual major curve Cobb angle was 35.4°. Lumbar mobility was measured during forward and lateral lumbar flexions using a dual digital inclinometer. Patients fulfilled the SRS22 Questionnaire and the Quality of Life in Spine Deformities Profile to estimate the perceived sensation of rigidity. Additionally, they rated the pain in the low back area.

An observational study on surgically treated adult idiopathic scoliosis patients’ quality of life outcomes at 1- and 2-year follow-ups and comparison to controls

BACKGROUND Prospective data on health-related quality of life in patients with idiopathic scoliosis treated surgically as adults is needed. We compared preoperative and 1- and 2-year follow-up data in surgically treated adults with idiopathic scoliosis with juvenile or adolescent onset. Results were compared to untreated adults with scoliosis and population normative data. METHODS A compariso...

Comparison of Functional Outcome and Quality of Life in Patients With Idiopathic Scoliosis Treated by Spinal Fusion

Longer spinal fusions have been shown to result in improved deformity correction; however, loss of normal flexibility in the fusion area should not be ignored. Current consensus was to achieve a shorter fusion in primary surgery, with the goal of preserving as much of the distal motion segment as possible. However, the correlation between the length of fusion and functional outcome remains cont...
